There's No Place Like Home For The Holidays! (A little mix of business and pleasure.)

Even though I've found so many wonderful homes around the world, it's great to be in NYC with all twinkling lights, decorated storefronts and bustling shoppers.  That said, I'll be glad to get out of here and head south to see my mama on Christmas Day in my old hometown of Wildwood, FL!

I just want to thank you all for another great year of support and friendship.  As I reflect on the past year, I am utterly filled with gratitude for all the energy you bring into my life.

As many of you know, it was a year of huge personal loss - my Father -  but it's also been such a year of wonderful gain - with all of the new friends I've made and the old friends I've seen on my road adventures where I've been able to bare my soul and join in communion with yours.
I couldn't ask for a better gift.

NOW FOR SOME EXCITING NEWS:

I'm very excited to kick off my US "SONGS FROM THE ROAD TOUR"  which will kick off on January 16th and go through April! The tour will start in the Northeast, take me through the Midwest, then West and Pacific Northwest, ending up back in the Northeast!  California and Pacific Northwest HERE I FINALLY COME!  You've been incredibly patient and you will be aptly rewarded!  :)

The 3rd show in 2015 will be the official NYC show of the year at the Brooklyn Bowl.   So if you need a great, fast, last minute Christmas gift for a loved one look no further than Brooklyn Bowl for tickets to my January 18th show! I'm excited to finally play Brooklyn, especially since I've made my last 2 studio albums there!  The "Boogie Rock Boys" will open the night AND I will also have a very special "young star on the rise" guest sitting in!  I'm super psyched to have my long-time friend Craig Dreyer on the keys and saxophone for this show AND my baby brother (from an Italiano mother) my ONLY drummer, Piero Perelli, joining me from Italy for the whole US tour along with Jon Diamond and bassist extraordinaire, Jack Daley!  The Brooklyn Bowl show is only a week after my birthday so COME ON OUT and celebrate with me!

Always KEEP checking here for tour dates as shows are still being added!

With that, I'll leave you with this  recent interview I did for Glide Magazine, which pretty much gives my whole story in depth thanks to journalist Leslie Michele Derrough!  She really tapped in to me!  :)

AND NOW below are a few fun NYC tips in case you're in town for the holidays or planning a trip to the Big Apple any time soon!

FIRST OFF:  Brooklyn Bowl Tix for my Jan 18 show a GREAT stocking stuffer!

THEN, If you happen to be in NYC for NYE and (wisely) want to avoid Times Square - I highly recommend Kadampa Meditation Center (my 2nd home in NYC) where our world-renowned resident teacher Kadam Morten Clausen will guide us into the new year with a very special meditation on compassion.  That's after you've pigged out on all the yummy treats they'll be serving starting 9:30pm and before you've made the New Year's resolution to give all that up! :-)  Won't it be nice to wake up New Year's Day with no hangover and a heart filled with love for all beings?  :-)

KEEPING IT MELLOW:  I also recommend a stroll in the Harlem Meer where right now you can see what I call "Little Christmas Tree Island."  It ain't Rockefeller Center but it's FAR more peaceful!

ACTIVELY KEEPING IT MELLOW: There's a very underrated, no-ridiculously-long-line-waiting-ice-skating-rink right there at 110th and 5th Ave called Lasker Rink.  I've been skating there for years.  :-)

LAST BUT NOT LEAST - GLAMOUR FOR GIRLS NYC STYLE:  I am always asked about my hair:  Is it real? (yes it is.) Are they extensions? (no they're not.)  How do you keep the curl? (proper hair cut!)  Who does your highlights?  (only one man in 15 years and I've never cheated!) Here's my best kept hair secret in NYC, Joseph Rose!  15 years ago I was so fortunate to meet one of NYC's top stylists and colorists at a friend's salon and I knew after my first cut and highlight that I had finally found "the one." Joseph now only works with private clients from his home studio or does house calls. So you not only get the benefit of his sole focus and total privacy but you also save a ton of dough on the extra salon fees.  Over the years I've sent so many people to Joseph and unless they have moved away, he's still working with them. Check him out and you won't regret it. Joseph is an EXPERT in all hair types - straight or curly!

Ok Y'all that's all for now!

Thank you all for being in my life.  May you have a wonderful Holiday Season and may we all find peace in these tumultuous times.

Love,
Dana

Hey Dana!

I'm glad you're coming back to Seattle! I've got a front row seat. Now if I can wait till March - dang, that's just too far off in the future!

Love & Hugs,
Dana (the dude version)

PS - I was right down the road from you on Christmas - Palm Beach Gardens - to see *my* Mama!

PPS - Apologies in advance if this thing sends out like 5 copies of this message. It's telling me I've got an OpenID error. As if!
