Hallo Don.

Those that know me have rarely known me speechless.  I am sobbing and speechless now as an expression of humanity and universal compassion has knocked me off my feet.

A man named Hans and his friends and family from Stuttgart, Germany went out of their way to come to Haderslev, Denmark to see my show and honor my brother Don's memory in the most fantastically thoughtful and human way possible.  Their grace is simply elegant.

A group of people caught my eye in the crowd during our set with a sign that said "Hallo Don".

It didn't even register in my mind until after the show when Hans and his people came to see me and presented me with this card.
On the left is a note to Don that was written before he passed.  On the right is a note written to me after he passed.

They waited and came to find me miles away from my home and miles away from their own to express their condolences and share this with me.

I have only known such compassion in my heart of hearts.  The loving gesture made by these people makes me sob.  They never even knew Don, except through me and my songs.

I am overcome with grief and gratitude.

I wish Don could have met these people in this life.  He would have never stopped thanking them and for that matter, neither will I.  Thank you and your friends and family, Hans.
I'm honored and humbled to have made your acquaintance.

Love,
Dana

Instant Travel Karma's Gonna Get You...

Yesterday afternoon, while boarding Delta Flight 70 for our long overnight flight, after much recent travel stress, Jon and I were held up when my boarding pass was swiped and my name came up in ominous flashing red as "Passenger Not Cleared"

Uh-Oh!

But, as my mind began to reel with possible Patriot Act implications and being grounded in the States, the gate attendant tapped my arm and informed me that I had reached some sort of Delta Skymiles-stone, stepped us aside and proceeded to walk us BOTH to business class seats!

It was like winning a contest!

Instantly, Jon was tripping out as they brought us champagne and instead of giving him the usual shit about his gear they put it all away for him with a smile!   Civility on Delta?  Could it be?

Jon opened his special biz class travel pack and we snapped pictures like amateur first class travelers.
Now we're in business!

Ahh, life was good for a minute, until the commonplace air traffic delays at JFK had us sitting on the runway for over 2 hours.

Finally, we were in the air.

While the attentive in-flight staff served a several course dinner with wines and cognacs to match, making for quite a hedonistic airplane affair, and Jon's thrill with it all was most infectious, alas, our standard travel karma won out in the end.

We left NYC so late that we missed our connecting flight to Hamburg and got stuck in the Amsterdam airport for 10 hours.

Fortunately, we found a hotel and slept for a fleeting 5 of them.  We made our later connection and have touched down in Hamburg feeling rested and ready for upcoming shows in Denmark and Belgium!
Rock & Roll,  Hoochie Koo!

 :-)

Love & Gratitude,
Dana
